What Your Dues Support

Members’ support enables the association to undertake field-shaping projects, such as a teaching resource page and a database of graduate student projects, that serve ISSS membership as well as advocate for the field(s) of surrealism studies and its members. Your dues allow the ISSS to collaborate with host institutions to sponsor annual conferences, as well as to build funds to support graduate students, NTT faculty, and independent artist/scholar travel to such events.

Membership Benefits

  • One-year subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism (IJS), with digital-only, print-only, or print + digital subscription options. IJS publishes two issues per year, beginning in November 2023. *You must include a mailing address with your MemberPlanet payment to receive a print journal.*
  • Access to registration and participation in the annual conference and other ISSS-sponsored events.
  • Access to calls for papers, and other surrealism news and events from around the world.
  • Eligibility to vote for officers, as well as to nominate members and/or self-nominate for officer positions.
  • Eligibility to apply for travel subvention (for graduate student, NTT, and/or independent scholar/artist members).

Annual Membership Rates:

Regular Membership: Full-time faculty and museum staff

  • Regular membership with digital-only subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $62 USD
  • Regular membership with print-only subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $65 USD
  • Regular membership with digital + print subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $77 USD

Reduced Membership: Independent/NTT artists and scholars, students

  • Reduced membership with digital-only subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $37 USD
  • Reduced membership with print-only subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $40 USD
  • Reduced membership with digital + print subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $52 USD

Supporting Membership: 50% of membership supports ISSS travel fund

  • Supporting membership with digital-only subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $112 USD
  • Supporting membership with print-only subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $115 USD
  • Supporting membership with digital + print subscription to the International Journal of Surrealism: $127 USD
