Conference Travel Funding Applications (2025)

Applications due: 27 May 2025

Consistent with our commitment to create an inclusive community of scholars and artists interested in surrealism, the ISSS has instituted a modest travel fund to support eligible ISSS members in need for financial assistance to attend the 2025 ISSS Conference in Bogotá, Colombia.

To be eligible, you must be a current member of the ISSS (link below), have a paper/presentation accepted at the conference, and be one of the following: a graduate student, an independent scholar, an artist, or a junior scholar, with limited or no funding. Every year, depending on the location, we prioritise applications coming from outside the location where the conference is taking place – i.e. this year, for those applying from outside Latin America. We will be awarding 4 awards of $500 towards travel this year.

If you fulfill the eligibility criteria please submit to Terri Geis tlg9396@nyu.edu an application for funding by May 27th and include the following information:

Anticipated budget for travel
Anticipated funding from other sources
Title and abstract of paper submitted to the conference
Please write brief motivational statement (max. 300 words) outlining why attendance of this conference and presentation of your paper will benefit your career or personal development.

Applications by May 27th sent to tlg9396@nyu.edu. The conference committee will get back to you as soon as possible after we have reviewed the applications.
